Watch this video to see behind the scenes at Giving Day
Barrington Giving Day is a truly monumental task
You have probably heard about Giving Day — families in need in Barrington School District 220 receive boxes of food, warm coats, blankets, books, and gifts.
Members of Barrington churches, schools, businesses and civic organizations are always generous in their support of this day. In 2013 Barrington Giving Day served 1,000 families. This included 3,000 children and senior citizens.
All that sounds great, but what you may not know is the sheer logistics of getting all that clothing, gifts, food, etc in one place and prepping in just a few short hours to welcome the families. It is indeed monumental.
Without volunteers and support from businesses, churches, schools, local organizations and the many dedicated high school and middle school students, Giving Day would not exist.
Take a look at the video by high schooler Gus Goetz and take a peak behinds the scenes of Giving Day setup. You will be amazed!
